Established Australian portrait artist and five-time finalist in Australia’s most extraordinary art event, the Archibald Prize, David Naseby is recognised as one of Australia’s leading portrait painters. His work hangs in numerous national and international galleries including the State Library of New South Wales and the Museum of Democracy. The National Portrait Gallery of Australia holds four of his portraits including poet Les Murray, writer Bob Ellis, environmentalist Geoff Cousins, and actor Max Cullen.
His sensitive complex paintings also include, Labor stalwart and author Dick Hall, his close friend cartoonist Bill Leak, and Miss Australia Belinda Green.
For the last decade David’s fascination has been the Australian landscape, and he has undertaken little in the way portrait work during this period. Lately, David has returned to his other love, figure painting, and he is currently accepting portrait commissions.
